The Pack The Glacier 85L Backpack is ergonomically designed to keep you comfortable and in control when carrying heavy loads on multi-day missions. If you’re heading out for longer than a night or two, the 85L pack has plenty of space for your outdoor clothing, food and cookware, sleeping bag, tent, and extras. Built to take a beating, the pack is made from highly durable, recycled 300D polyester ripstop, while the base is beefed up with heavy-duty 500D Cordura® nylon. The fabrics have a PFC-free TPU coating for enhanced water-repellency, abrasion resistance, and UV protection. The Glacier Backpack’s smart storage system includes a large main compartment that can be accessed from the top or via a full-length middle zip, so you don’t have to dig everything out to find what you’re looking for. You’ve got spacious side pockets for stashing larger items, such as a spotting scope, bipod, drink bottle, and other accessories. There’s an internal water bladder compartment (up to 3L) and an outlet and clip for securing the hose to the shoulder strap. The detachable 5L top compartment can be converted into a small carry bag or “bum bag”, ideal for carrying a jacket, water bottle, snacks, and other essentials when you’re heading on short side missions. On the outside, the pack’s equipped with a loop and lock system for an ice axe or walking poles; a dedicated tripod sleeve; daisy chain loops to secure extra gear; high-strength stitching; and reinforced straps and clips to keep everything in place. Step 1: Prepare Your Pack Before putting the pack on, release the following: Shoulder straps Shoulder stabilizers Hip belt straps Hip belt stabilizers Sternum strap Ensure the shoulder straps are in the neutral position on the frame, using slots 2 & 4. Step 2: Position the Hip Belt Lift the pack onto your back and position the hip belt. Some prefer it lower on their pelvis, others higher on the waist. If unsure, start with the padded section sitting on top of your hip bones—you can adjust later. Clip the hip belt buckle together and pull the two tensioning straps to tighten. It should feel firm but comfortable, with minimal weight on your shoulders. The padded section should extend just past your hips. Step 3: Adjust the Shoulder Straps The shoulder straps should follow the natural curve of your shoulders. Pull down on them for a snug fit. The attachment point where the shoulder strap stabiliser joins the shoulder strap should sit at the top of your shoulder. If the attachment point sits behind the top of your shoulder, towards your back → move the shoulder straps up the frame to slots 3 & 5. If the attachment point sits in front of the top of your shoulder, towards your chest → move the shoulder straps down the frame to slots 1 & 3. Step 4: Fine-Tune Stabiliser Straps Tighten the shoulder strap stabilisers until secure, but not so tight that a gap forms between your shoulder and the straps. The stabilising strap should sit at a 45-degree angle. Tighten the hip belt stabilisers to reduce the side-to-side movement of the pack.
