Overview

Mt Albert station is at the top of lake Wanaka near a small town called Makarora.  Located on the main route from the southern lakes to Haast Pass. The farm is a 12,500-hectare property running mainly sheep and beef which has vast flats and steep high-country. The west side of the property backs onto Mt Aspiring National Park a hunter’s paradise.

The Property

The property is incredibly unique, the Makarora, Young and Wilkin rivers run through the farm, so the rivers do rule your life here. The rivers mean that they need to mix up how they get around and move stock. If the rivers are up or in flood, they tend to muster cattle on horseback or even by jetboat.

Mt Albert Station has a large amount of rainfall each year. On average they receive 100 inches which is about 2.5m annually. Scott and his family are mad keen farmers and hunters who get out for a hunt every chance they get. Upon arrival, we noticed a pile of trophy stag heads that he and his family have shot and collected over the years with his youngest son telling me he shot his first stag just a few days before.

It was great to meet a family who enjoys their lifestyle so much and you can see they have a love the property and surrounding areas.

Jackets of Choice

With the freezing cold and forever unpredictable weather means Scott and his family need gear that’s going to hold up on the farm and out on the hunts.

The Windproof Frontier Pullover and Polar X Puffer Jacket are their jackets of choice.

The Bushbuck Polar X Down Puffer Jacket is made from tough water-resistant and windproof outer canvas which is treated with DWR, it’s filled with 800 fill power duck down which provides insane insulation, and it’s lined with microfleece on the neck and pockets, which all together, make this one of the toughest and warmest jackets on the market.

Windproof Layer


The Windproof Frontier Pullover is our most technical fleece combining our wind arc technical breathable membrane, tough nylon canvas on all high wearing areas as well as a large chest pocket that has magnets to allow silent opening and closing.

This is a top that is loved amongst farmers and hunters from all over.
