The Bushbuck Horizon 8000 2-person tent is built for hunters, hikers, and keen adventurers to brave the harshest New Zealand conditions. It’s the best lightweight 2-person tent for overnight and longer missions outdoors. The Horizon 8000 2-person tent weighs only 2kg and has the ability to drop down to 1.3kg with the footprint + fly configuration, making it one of the most versatile tents on the market.
It boasts a whopping 8000mm waterproof rating on the fly and floor, far exceeding the 3000mm industry standard. This makes the Horizon 8000 the best choice for all-weather camping. The fly is made from siliconised ripstop nylon and the floor is made from durable waterproof polyester. The floor is roughly double the height of most tents on the market, which is handy if a small stream develops under you during heavy rain. The internal canopy is DWR treated (so it’s highly water-resistant) and has breathable mesh on all four sides for maximum ventilation.
A door and vestibule on both sides provide plenty of space for storing gear — hunting packs, boots, and stinky clothing — for two people. But if you like having extra room, it’s also a great option for solo missions. The simple, strong singular pole system makes the tent fast and easy to put up and pack down. If you’re keen to cut down on the weight you’re carrying, you can ditch the tent inner and just take the footprint and fly (with the pole system and pegs, of course). This will save you about 0.7kg. All of this packs down to a convenient, compact size for strapping onto the outside of your pack. The Horizon 8000 two-person tent really is a great option for a wide range of adventures.
