At Bushbuck, we’re on a journey to becoming a more sustainable and socially responsible company.
By reducing our environmental impact, we can help safeguard the future of the mountains, forests, rivers and oceans we hunt and explore.
It’s easy to say these things, but we see this as our most important and challenging mission yet.
What does that mean for us?

Built to Last
It starts with doing what we do best: Engineering high-quality, durable products that last for ages. The more wear you get out of your hunting gear, the better.
Where possible, we offer our customers a repair service to extend the lifecycle of our products and reduce waste going to landfills.
Even if your gear’s outside the warranty period, we’ll do our best to keep it in action longer, usually at little to no cost.
Exploring Alternatives
Our team is always exploring more sustainable fabrics and treatments for Bushbuck products.
Bushbuck’s merino wool is sustainably sourced, naturally biodegradable and meets the bluesign® standard. Our bamboo charcoal-infused fabric is a more eco-friendly alternative to cotton. We only use down that meets the Responsible Down Standard in our puffer jackets and sleeping bags. And we’ve switched to C6 DWR waterproof treatment, which is safer for the environment.

Packaging and labels are also major considerations for us. We’ve transitioned to hang tags made from recycled cardboard and we’re always working to reduce plastic packaging.
We’re also proud to support hunting and conservation organisations that are relevant to our customers and community, including the New Zealand Game Animal Council, New Zealand Tahr Foundation, Moral Compass & Canterbury Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
Where We're Going
These are just a few steps we’ve taken on this journey. But our sustainability mission isn’t only about what we’ve done, it’s about where we’re going.
We’re reviewing our entire supply chain, from processing and manufacturing to packaging and shipping, to identify ways that Bushbuck can improve and we’ve got some exciting plans in the pipeline.
Bushbuck’s journey to becoming a sustainable and socially responsible company isn’t about quick fixes, cutting corners and empty promises. If we’re gonna do something, we’re gonna do it properly and purposefully.
We plan to keep taking small steps in the right direction, making good decisions, working with suppliers and manufacturers, and listening to our customers to make the most meaningful impact we can.
We’re just getting started and we look forward to sharing this journey with you all.
